A leading Somerset elective care hospital is now seeking a Theatre Nurse (RN Adult) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with scrub experience to join the team.

The hospital, rated “Good” in each category by the CQC, is a long-time valued partner of the NHS and plays an active role in the delivery of planned health services for NHS, self-funded and insured patients from each corner of the South West.

The team supports patients with a host of diverse health and treatment needs – from ophthalmic and ENT procedures down to orthopaedic surgeries for the feet and ankles – aided by state-of-the-art, on-site diagnostic imaging services.

As a Scrub Practitioner, you will support a wide range of surgeries within an acutely modern theatre environment. You’ll join a strong MDT who all endeavour to provide the highest quality of pre-, peri- and post-operative care, whether for a day case procedure or for a longer and more complex surgery, to foster the best possible patient outcomes.

In return, you’ll get extensive wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, long-term development support, and a better balance between your work and home life for a rewarding and sustainable career.

This is a permanent, full-time role, working 37.5h over 4 days.

There will be no nights, Sundays or on-call required.

  • (Essential) Registration with the NMC as a Registered Nurse (Adult) or with the HCPC as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP)
  • (Essential) Previous experience as a Scrub Practitioner at NHS Band 5 level or higher
  • (Essential) Previous experience scrubbing across a range of specialities including General Surgery

  • Great work/life balance
  • Full support with further learning and development
  • 25 days’ annual leave + bank holidays, increasing with length of service
  • Employee assistance helpline
  • Employee and family discounts on self-pay treatment at network hospitals
  • Perks, discount and membership schemes including Blue Light Card
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Sick pay scheme
  • Professional recognition opportunities
  • And more!
