A new opportunity is now available for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join a charity-led hospital in London in a specialist role.

This hospital operates at the very forefront of clinical care for complex HIV-related conditions and its recent projects have expanded services to include specialist neurorehabilitation, as well as step-down services for people experiencing both health issues and homelessness in London.

As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you’ll be part of a skilled MDT that provides detailed and holistic care to patients with neurological needs; implementing trauma-informed, recovery-focused therapies to maximise independence, improve social communication, and ease re-integration into the community. You will:

  • Deliver targeted therapies for post-acute inpatients with complex presentations, often including co-morbid physical, neurological and/or mental health needs, which encompass difficulties with communication and/or swallowing.
  • Complete comprehensive, outcome-focused assessments to design interventions bespoke to each patient, continuously evaluating and making further recommendations to meet evolving needs.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop, implement, and evaluate new interventions that further improve clinical outcomes, improve quality of life, and reduce the probability of a future hospital readmission.

This is a permanent, part-time position for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, and a chance to directly support people affected by both a national lack of sufficient specialist care and by lingering social stigma in a fulfilling and dynamic role.

Person specification:

  • (Essential) Registration with the HCPC as a Speech and Language Therapist
  • (Essential) Registration with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
  • (Essential) At least 6 years’ post-registration experience
  • (Essential) Evidence of a clinical interest in HIV, neurological and/or rehabilitation services
  • (Essential) Relevant Level 7 qualification, or evidence of working at a commensurate professional level

Benefits / enhancements include:

  • Enhanced annual leave allowance
  • Further training and development opportunities
  • Subsidised meals
  • Travel loan
  • Gym facilities
  • Car lease scheme
  • Company pension scheme
  • And more
