A leading premium care home in Wallingford is now looking for an experienced Second Chef to join their culinary team.

Part of one of the UK’s leading luxury care groups, the aim is to offer residents an exceptional experience across the board – which means top-tier hospitality and fine dining, alongside excellent residential support. This home was purpose-built and is accordingly high-spec throughout, including in the kitchen.

You will:

  • Cover 10h shifts, with no nights required, no split-shifts and only alternate weekends.
  • Only be dealing with fresh, seasonal ingredients (no microwave meals).
  • Have the freedom to get creative in a modern and well-equipped kitchen.
  • Have the opportunity to influence nutritious new menus and hone your culinary expertise.

Your role will be all about assisting the Head Chef in creating flavoursome and well-balanced dishes, while working with residents to tailor menus around them.

This is your chance to prepare food to hotel/restaurant standards and grow within the profession without the split days and long weeks.

This is a permanentfull-time position, covering four days per week.

Benefits/enhancements include:

  • Modern, upgraded kitchens at a premium care home
  • Financial bonus for achieving positive CQC inspections
  • Free on-site parking
  • Access to scheme for extensive range of holiday, retail, and leisure discounts
  • Ongoing learning & development
  • Company pension scheme
  • Unlimited access to Refer-a-Friend bonus scheme
  • Health and wellbeing support, including free access to medical experts for second opinions
  • Recognition and reward schemes
  • Monthly staff lottery offering cash prizes
  • And more!

Person specification:

  • Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
  • Experience of working with fresh seasonal food
  • Good understanding of nutrition
  • Good understanding of HACCP
  • Able to create a warm and welcoming environment within the home
  • Personable approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
  • Confident in engaging with residents to create appetising menus
