Location: St Helena, South Atlantic Tropical Island.
Salary: C £38,000 per annum PLUS a tax free International Supplement (£15,800 - £22,100)
Description: This hospital is based on a sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500. St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK. The 28-bed General Hospital in the capital, covers all areas of acute medical and surgical care. Following the opening of its international airport in October 2017, St Helena is better placed to develop both economically and socially.
This is a dream job for a School Nurse who can utilise their clinical skills and professional judgment to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people and to reduce health inequalities.
You must ensure all children and young people receive universal access and early identification of complex needs from school entry, with timely access to specialist services. Based in a community office you will travel to homes, various schools, district clinics and other locations across the island.
In partnership with other agencies, families, schools and other health care professionals, you will undertake risk assessment and develop subsequent action plans. You must address sexual health and relationships issues and key public health initiatives, lead and administer immunisation programmes and provide training, support and information to education staff on health promotion issues
This is a two year fixed term contract!
Person Specification: The ideal candidate will be registered with the NMC in the UK.
As a Registered Nurse (including Registered Sick Children Nurse) you will hold a Post Graduate Specialist Community Public Health Nurse qualification or equivalent, with Live NMC Register or equivalent. You must also have a Teaching/Assessing qualification and evidence of ongoing professional development. A full current driving license is required.
