Description: This NHS Trust provide mental health and learning disability services, as well as a range of specialist and secure services for the wider South West region and nationally. They are passionate about delivering excellent quality of care, improving lives of others, giving respect, dignity and compassion. Also Shortlisted for Best Employer by Nursing Times 2018.

This is an exciting opportunity to join their Occupational Therapy team at one of the country's most respected providers of secure mental health services, with an 'outstanding' CQC rating for their 111 acre campus-style site.

This is a unique opportunity to undertake a key role in the development of an innovative project within the hospital's open wards. The reconfiguration of Connelly house into an occupational therapist facilitated unit is a new and exciting project that optimises the rehabilitation potential of the patients and supports their successful and timely discharge into the community. Connelly house is in fact profiled in this month's OT NEWS (April 2019) as an exemplar of an OT Led ward service. To be part of this development would take your career a stage further.

We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist who is enthusiastic, committed to the recovery values, demonstrates leadership skills and an ability to create an occupation focused culture. This role will require the successful applicant to lead a small team of band 5 Occupational Therapists, Assistant Practitioners and Support Workers within the 6 bedded unit. The successful applicant will be responsible for the running and governance of the service, under the supervision of the Clinical Team Manager of the open cluster. This role will require shift working to include evenings and weekend.

Recovery is at the heart of everything they do - it is about people building a meaningful life and represents a shift away from focusing on illness and symptoms towards a focus on personal health, strengths and wellness.

Person Specification: You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with at least three years' experience of working within an inpatient setting. You will be able to motivate, inspire and support a team.

The nature of the role demands extensive knowledge of the mental health act and other legislation and codes of practice. Experience of working within a forensic healthcare setting is desirable.

A clear and confident communicator, you will work closely and collaboratively with colleagues and clinical teams. You'll be confident at solving problems, and an ability to take on new approaches to care.

Benefits:

* Commitment to CPD, with wide range of leadership development opportunities
