Job Title: Team leader/ Senior Sister/Charge Nurse ED
Salary: £38,036 to £50,144 per annum inc HCA
Description: This hospital is one of the largest teaching hospitals in the country and as a Team Leader you will be responsible for the delivery of care across the Emergency Department on a shift-by-shift basis.
The hospital have an established Band 7 team which allows them to ensure they also have exposure to managing individual clinical areas of the ED such as Resus as well as undertaking the overall in-charge role. In addition you will be managerially responsible for a small group of nurses with the support of the Matrons and practice development nurses.
Person Specification: We are looking for motivated, innovative nurses with strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication, management and leadership skills. You will need to be flexible, enthusiastic and passionate about emergency care and you need to be committed to improving service delivery, able to sustain new ways of working and develop nursing practice. To be considered for this role, you will be a registered nurse with demonstrable clinical expertise, relevant to the ED. You will also be in possession of an Emergency Nursing Course, Mentorship Course and ALS provider course. The ATLS (observer) or ATNC would be desirable.
The hospital are continuing to explore how best to ensure senior ED nurses have opportunities to expand their clinical expertise and practice, such as:- Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP), Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP/AAP) development programmes and opportunities for fixed term secondments into the Trauma Nurse Coordinator (TNC) role. As an Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) we are also seeking to establish the ED as an academic and research department with the support of our critical care colleagues and our ED Nurse Consultants and there are unique opportunities to be actively involved in national and international research.
