A long-established specialist London hospital is now looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant (HCA) or Support Worker to join the team in providing the best all-round care possible to people who require complex support for brain-related conditions.

For over 150 years, the hospital has provided long-term healthcare services, rehabilitation support, and a base for advanced research into new therapies for people with profound brain injuries and complex conditions; it now stands as a leading centre of excellence in specialist care for neurological disabilities.

As a Clinical Healthcare Assistant with the hospital, you will help provide dedicated care (sometimes on 1-to-1 basis) to people who have impaired rational thinking and decision-making abilities. You will:

  • help develop supportive and respectful relationships
  • encourage engagement with Positive Behaviour Support techniques
  • help to maximise independence and quality of life.

Previous experience with mental health / psychiatric / brain disorders, 1-to-1 care and/or challenging behaviours will be beneficial for this role.

This is a permanent Clinical Healthcare Assistant role, with full-time or part-time hours available.

Person specification:

You must have previous care experience, with NVQ Level 2 / 3 in Health & Social Care (or related).

Previous experience with mental health / psychiatric / brain disorders, 1-to-1 care and/or working with people who display challenging behaviours is preferable but not essential.

Benefits include:

  • Free on-site parking
  • Private pension scheme
  • Season ticket loan
  • Employee health and wellbeing services
  • DSE/eyesight tests and cover
  • Preferential rates for a health cash plan
