About Sean

Sean founded Sterling Cross because he believes passionately in empowering clients with an exceptional recruitment experience and offering candidates a path toward a sustainable career.

A lifelong recruiter, joining the industry in November 1989 Sean has recently embarked on his 33rd year in the industry. Sean spent his first 14 years based in London, Birmingham, Leeds, and Canterbury working within recruitment advertising concentrating on engineering and financial services before chasing a true passion to launch a start-up recruitment business. That was in 2003 and along with co-founding partner, Paul Turner, developed a passion for the niche recruitment sectors of financial services and healthcare. Originally dealing with nurses but very quickly expanding into theatres, pharmacy, radiography, physiotherapy, and biomedical science. After the financial crisis of 2008 Sean concentrated the business solely on the UK healthcare sector.

Sean has overseen the development of the company’s facilities and systems from a two-person office in Hythe to state-of-the-art business premises at Discovery Park Enterprise zone in Sandwich, Kent.

As well as fiscal responsibility he now provides leadership to the management team and oversite for strategy and operations management. To ensure a legacy of strong collaborative management Sean has embarked on a knowledge-based programme to upskill the next generation of great managers within the company. For him it’s as simple as “What are their strengths? What are the triggers that activate those strengths? and What is their learning style?”

Along with his wife Jane, Sean spent 9 years in the mid 2000’s renovating a farmhouse in the Pyrenees. He sums himself up as ‘a little bit of a cyclist and a bit of a Francophile prog rock fan!’
